Earning Scuba Dive Certifications to Restore Our Oceans with Spiritus
With Jeju Marine Ranch
Acquiring a scuba diving license for further volunteering activities
This autumn, our Spiritus members began a new chapter in our ministry adventure—under the sea. Three of our dedicated members were in the process of earning their official scuba diving licenses. Afternoons are spent hours at a time honing essential diving skills and studying for written exams on ocean safety, marine life, and conservation ethics.

These excursions are not an issue of individual achievement. They are rings on the ladder of a larger plan: to conduct underwater clean-up dives that will serve directly to mend and protect marine habitats. Once we are certified, we intend to remove garbage from the Jeju ocean floor—trash that harms marine life and habitats—and to witness firsthand the impacts of human activities on marine life.

Each training exercise requires patience, discipline, and teamwork. We are learning to venture into new underwater worlds, operate specialized equipment, and keep our wits about us in stressful conditions. We will continue to look forward to continuing this journey—and diving deeper into solutions for a healthier planet.
