Cleaning with Purpose: A Small Step in Gangnam-gu
Seeing Beyond the Surface
This past weekend, our Spiritus team spent two meaningful hours cleaning the lively streets of Gangnam-gu, a district known for its fashionable stores, cafés, and endless energy. At first glance, the area looked spotless. But as we began walking, we soon noticed what most people overlook — bits of trash hidden under benches, tucked into sidewalk cracks, and left behind in quiet alleyways.
Our goal was simple: to take direct action and show that even small efforts can lead to visible, lasting change.

What We Did

Equipped with gloves, tongs, and biodegradable trash bags, we followed a one-kilometer route through backstreets, walkways, and community parks. Along the way, we picked up familiar types of litter — paper cups, plastic wrappers, and empty drink containers. These items may seem minor, but they have lasting consequences when left behind.
One moment stood out in particular. A local resident stopped to thank us and said they had never realized how much trash had gathered in their own neighborhood. That short conversation reminded us that our mission isn’t just about cleaning. It’s about awareness, connection, and the pride we can rebuild within our communities.
By the end of the cleanup, we had collected more than sixty pieces of litter. But the most meaningful outcome was the curiosity we inspired. Several people asked how they could join next time. What began as a small act turned into a moment of shared purpose.
What’s Next
This cleanup was only the beginning. Our team plans to continue these efforts every week, visiting different neighborhoods and inviting residents to participate. We hope to create cleaner, safer, and more mindful public spaces through consistency and collaboration.
We believe that real change comes not from one grand gesture, but from continuous action rooted in community care. Step by step, we can build a culture of respect for the places we live in and for the people who share them with us.
Together, we are proving that a cleaner world begins with a single piece of litter picked up and a single person who cares enough to start.
