Making Our School Shine
Last week, our Spiritus CCA team organized a campus-wide cleanup to make our school environment cleaner and more pleasant. Even though we walk through these areas every day, we were surprised to see how much litter had quietly accumulated. To make the task efficient, we split into smaller groups — each assigned to different areas such as the outdoor sports field, the front of the high school building, the gym entrance, and the space between the dormitories.
Armed with gloves and trash bags, we began collecting various types of litter including plastic bottles, cans, paper, and snack wrappers. What started as a simple cleanup quickly turned into a fun and engaging team activity.
Working Together and Finding Joy

At first, we thought the work would be routine, but teamwork made everything surprisingly enjoyable. We even turned it into a friendly competition to see which group could collect the most trash. Laughing, chatting, and sharing stories as we worked made time pass quickly. The weather was perfect — clear skies, cool air, and just enough breeze to keep us comfortable — creating the ideal atmosphere for outdoor volunteering.
As we saw our bags slowly fill up, a sense of pride grew within the group. The school grounds began to look brighter, cleaner, and more welcoming. By the time we finished, even the sports field looked almost brand new. It was rewarding to see immediate results from our collective effort.
Lessons Learned from Small Actions
This activity taught us that protecting the environment doesn’t always require big projects or complicated plans. Meaningful change often starts with small, consistent actions — like picking up trash in places we call home.
Beyond improving the school’s appearance, the cleanup strengthened our teamwork and sense of responsibility. Working side by side reminded us that when everyone contributes, even in small ways, the results can be powerful.
We hope to continue organizing similar activities in the future. This experience reaffirmed that environmental stewardship begins right where we are — in our own community. Through small actions carried out with care and cooperation, we can make a big impact together.
