A Bigger Stage, the Same Spirit – Volunteering at KWBL in Jeju
Our Spiritus team recently had the opportunity to volunteer once again, this time on our home ground in Jeju. Compared to the tournament in Suwon, the scale of this event felt much larger and more dynamic from the moment we stepped into the venue. The gymnasium was vast, with towering ceilings, bright lights, and wide seating areas that gave the matches a national-level atmosphere. The energy in the air was different — more intense, more electric — and we felt it the moment the first whistle blew.

New Challenges in a Larger Arena
With a larger space came new challenges. Tasks that had felt simple in Suwon now required more coordination and focus. Delivering score sheets meant running across a much wider court, and wiping the floor during timeouts demanded quicker reactions and seamless teamwork. Even handing out water felt more significant as we saw how much the athletes appreciated these small acts of support.
One unforgettable moment was when players and staff members personally thanked us after the game, saying, “Thank you for participating.” Those words were simple, but they carried a powerful message. They reminded us that volunteering isn’t just about performing tasks — it’s about contributing to something meaningful and building a sense of teamwork and shared purpose.

The Power of Community in the Stands
What left the deepest impression on us in Jeju was the atmosphere created by the crowd. The stands were packed with families, friends, and local supporters whose cheers echoed throughout the gym. It was moving to see people of all ages come together, cheering not just for victory but to support the athletes they cared about.
The energy from the stands and the determination on the court created something truly special. It wasn’t just about basketball — it was about community, resilience, and the shared joy of competition. Standing there as volunteers, we felt honored to be part of that bigger story, even from behind the scenes.
Pride in Service, No Matter the Scale
As the day came to an end, we walked out of the gym with a renewed sense of pride and gratitude. Volunteering at the Jeju tournament taught us that no matter the size of the venue — whether it’s a smaller gym in Suwon or a massive arena here — the heart of service never changes. Our purpose remains the same: to support others so they can shine, to help create an environment where sportsmanship thrives, and to build connections that go beyond the game itself.
Our experience in Jeju reminded us why we volunteer. Even the quiet, behind-the-scenes work can make a real difference, and every small act contributes to something much greater — a celebration of teamwork, passion, and community.
